Living a more spiritual life means that you are practicing the presence of God on a daily basis.
Today, more than ever we live in a world full of distractions. At times it can seem as if there is so much to do and not enough time to do it.
Busy, busy, busy.
If you aren’t careful that’s what your life can end up looking like it.
Practicing the Presence of God in Your Life
And as you can probably imagine practicing the presence of God when your life is filled with busyness isn’t easy.
As a matter of fact, Joyce Meyers share one of my favorite stories in the Bible that illustrates this point.
It is the story of when Jesus went to Jerusalem for Passover with Mary and Joseph when He was around 12 years old.
This festival was pretty busy and chaotic and at a certain point Mary and Joseph lost contact with Jesus. Then when they left to go back home, they assumed Jesus was with them.
Do you think that God is with you when you are consumed with the busyness of life?
However, as things began to settle down, after a day passed they realized that Jesus was no longer with them.
At this point, they had to turn around to go look for Jesus and it took three days to find him.
The Spiritual Takeaway!
What we can learn from this Bible story is that it’s easier to forget that the power of God is within you than it is to remember this truth once you lose it in the busyness of life.
In other words, spend time in prayer and meditation connecting to that presence of God that is within you.
No matter how busy or chaotic your life may seem. When you wake up in the morning, take time to connect to God. Throughout the day, affirm that this is the day that the Lord has made. In the middle of the day, good or bad, take a moment to breathe and remember that God is with you. At night before you go to bed thank God for being in your life.
Because when you can do that day after day. That’s when you will realize that practicing the presence of God leads to a more spiritual and joyful life.
If practicing the presence of God is something you are interested in here is a daily prayer to consider…
“God, thank You for giving me your peace and love in my heart. I want to feel and experience Your presence today, God. Help me remember You in my thoughts and actions. Thank you for blessing me and all those around me. Amen”
