Sometimes we need reminders. For instance, it's no secret that there is an extraordinary amount of power to be had when we learn how and actually allow ourselves to forgive both ourselves and others.
Of course, if you're anything like me, how many times have you found yourself in a state of unforgiveness simply because you couldn't find a good reason to forgive.
Maybe whatever happened seems unforgivable. Then again, maybe whoever you are blaming for your unhappiness is refusing to say they are sorry.
Let's face it. When we are stuck in a certain kind of "victim consciousness" we can find a whole lot of reasons why we shouldn't forgive.
That's why I appreciate what Caroline Myss has to say about forgiveness...

No doubt about it, I will say an "Amen!!!" to that. Because the fact of the matter is forgiveness is hard work because there are so many life situations and circumstances that can only be forgiven if we take our "sense of reason" out of it.
Yet, when we can take that leap beyond reason and simply let go of the pains of the past and forgive despite all the reasons not to. It's in those moments that something truly magical happens.
Our lives are transformed into a state of love and peace that quite simply couldnt have existed as long as we were holding onto all of that anger, resentment and pain of the past.
That's why it makes sense and I appreciate the reminder that forgiveness is a mystical act because it doesnt have to make sense in order for you to experience.
Now, you might be thinking that sounds great in theory but in practice even if I know forgiveness is good for me it is really hard to actually do.
And that's okay.
Because beleive it or not, when you can simply spend time in the silence through prayer and meditation. When you can mindfully move your body on and off a yoga mat. The more you practice the easier it becomes to forgive and let go.
But it definitely takes practice.
In the end, the choice is yours. You can keep on clinging to all of the legitamite reasons you have not to forgive someone or you can let go and forgive beyond reason. And maybe just maybe experience the kind of mystical experiences that people who have cultivated a willingness to forgive are aready having.
