As the author of over 40 books, including 20 New York Times bestsellers. It's not secret that Dr. Wayne Dyer is a world renowned author in the field of spiritual growth.
Yet, it was his simple blog post "My Greatest Teacher" that provided me with a profound moment of insight regarding forgiveness.
In this particular blog post he shares the moment of forgiveness that turned his whole life around and changed everything.
The moment, Dr. Wayne Dyer was at his father's grave in Biloxi, Missippi in 1974 and decided to forgive. Interestingly enough, this simple act of forgiveness created an extraordinary shift in his life.
Dr. Wayne Dyer acknowledges that he went from being an angry, impatient man and began the transformation process that led to him becoming someone who enjoys a life of loving and serving.
What's more, he shares how in that moment he chose to forgive, he was able to release and get rid of the anger and rage he had held toward his father since he was a child.
As if that wasn't enough. I also appreciated the gentle reminder that in order to forgive we have to stop blaming others for our unhappiness. Instead, we have to be willing to accept with compassion and understanding that just like Dr. Wayne Dyer says...

Of course, Im also thankful that when I found I no longer could afford to blame other people for my unhappiness because it was causing me so much pain. That's when I found the practice of yoga on the mat.
Because believe it or not...
The more time I spent practicing yoga on the mat the more I was able to stop blaming other people for my unhappiness. And the more I stopped blaming people the more responsibility I accepted as the creator of my own experience of life.
Just in case you are wondering, that's also when I found myself spending more time in prayer and meditation.
In addition, the more time I spent in prayer and meditation the more I found myself connecting with the Divine Spirit within me.
Simply stated, forgiveness and the spiritual practices of prayer, meditation, and yoga have set me free.
The bottom line is if you are seriously interested in letting go and moving beyond the pains and resentments of the past. Then now is the time to cultivate the power of forgiveness through the spiritual practices of prayer, meditation, and yoga.
