Total Bliss - Stress Mastery Course - Understanding Stress II

Stress is a necessary part of life, it is a catalyst for change.

Stress strengthens adaptability and necessitates self-preservation. Without it we may never be driven to change or improve, and we would fail to evade or confront threatening situations. A little stress is good, but a lot of stress has horrible consequences.  Stress management is a wise skill to gain.

When working with clients, I notice that stress is often their catalyst for motivation.  An ancient truth is that people are motivated by two things, pain and pleasure.  If stress is present, attempt to allow yourself some relief in knowing that the change which is about to occur can and will benefit you.

Your brain is preprogrammed to respond to stress and follows a preprogrammed and very predictable pattern. This response is designed to cope with stress in short and controlled durations. If the duration is extended for a prolonged period of time, your body will begin to kill itself in a desperate attempt to survive.  Practicing stress management tragedies will insure this does not happen.

Stress itself can originate from many different places and for different lengths of time. Understanding the basic principles of stress, Cortisol (the primary stress hormone) and the avenues from which stress affects us can improve your awareness of and resistance to it. Stress KILLS!

Let's figure it out so we can get rid of it! Like everything in life, stress generally follows a predicable trend. If we understand the pattern, we can introduce a stress management program to control, undo and rebuild this pattern! You can have FREEDOM and BLISS.

Stress is most deadly if it goes unnoticed.  Your awareness of stress and it's nature precipitates your ability to counter it.  The next article will discuss what is called General Adaption Syndrome or GAS.
