Can't Stop Your Stress?
Your life is not to hard. Everything goes smoothly You are happy most of the time and you think you are stress resistant.
But suddenly something can happen and you are not the cool one any more. It seems the ground sinks under your feet and you lost all feelings of security.
That something can be a severe issue like a an accident in your family Or a sudden dismissal from your job. I think it's quit normal to react with stress and insecurity when things like this happen.
But this concerns issues which are not that severe, where you react to those sudden Like so many people you do have a busy and stressful life. You know that you should take more time for relaxation, but you don't really succeed in relaxing. So I wonder: What is stopping you to take the necessary steps towards more relaxation in you life? Maybe the experience that you cannot relax anymore seems a little bit odd to you. You are able to take decisions. At your job you make decisions, you make a plan, you stick to the plan. Sometimes there can be a delay, but at the end the task will be fulfilled. But concerning your stress, nothing is working. You take the decision to deal with your stress and to put more relaxation in your life. And it doesn't work. Your life seems to become even more stressful.
I think it's inherent in stress. Maybe your life is too stressful already. In that case it just costs even more stress to stop the stress. And maybe you think that it is easy to stop stress. Stress means you are too busy and you do too much. So to stop stress you should do less or maybe do nothing at all. And what is easier than doing nothing? Well, you know it already: it's not easy tot do nothing. But I will give you a little help.
1. Set your goal. When you wanted to stop your stress there is one thing that you forgot. The problem will not be solved be just deciding. It's the same as setting a goal in your work or for you study. You set a goal and you work to achieve the results. You can do this also with stopping stress. Your goal is a more relaxed life. You want to feel more relaxation in your life in three weeks.
2. You will work at this goal by taking a long daily walk outside. While walking outside you should not think about your job or anything wthat is giving you stress. It is not easy to think about nothing. So you should think about something else. So here is what you should think about.
You will imagine that you are a tree. You walk outside, slowly as a tree, slowly, because your roots are grown deep into the soil. Only with some effort you can take your roots up to take the next step. Every new step you will take your roots out of the earth and let them root in the earth again.
In the beginning other thoughts come in your mind. That's okay. Let them come and go. As soon as you realise your other thoughts, return to thinking you're a tree and you walk over the earth.
So what to do now, at this moment? Schedule your hour for today and go out. Enjoy your hour as a tree! It's fun and will free you from stress!
